| OK...I'm back! Since I've written last I've become a college teacher and have 2 more grandbabies. Could life get any better? I don't think so! Here are a couple of sweet pictures!

| Heading out to the cabin with my extended family tomorrow morning for a fun Labor Day weekend. It was wonderful having Becky, Patrick, Marcus, Josh, and Molly with us last weekend, and although the boys went home on Monday, Becky, baby Marcus, and Molly have been at home all week. Looking forward to this week/end and holding that wonderful little baby to my heart's content. Ahhhhhhhhh.....life is good! | | |
| Ohhhh, such a terrific book...if you like books you can't put down that is! Also you must favor suspense, and like books and movies that are thrillers. I got this book from the library last week after a little wait, and could hardly wait to get into bed at night to read. mmmmm
Kids are coming home on Friday! Well, all the children except Bryan and Chanda who are stuck in Italy. Poor things... :) Becky, Patrick, and Marcus arrive Friday afternoon, and Molly and Josh, Friday evening. There is a pool party/BBQ planned at sister Debbies on Friday evening which will welcome them all home, and a birthday party for Marcus...yes! A true BIRTHday party. Can't wait to get that sweet baby in my arms! OK, along with the rest of the crew too! I have large enough arms for them all. Saturday morning we'll drive up to the lake for a long weekend, and then Patrick and Josh will fly home to Boston and Texas on Monday. Bruce and I have to work :( This will leave Molly and Becky to their own devises over the next few days. They may stay at the lake and relax, or they might come home and do other things...fair, visit friends, etc. Thursday afternoon we'll drive back to the lake for a long Labor Day weekend, and my extended family will all meet at the lake for fun and frolic. I can't wait!
I had a birthday luncheon on my shady deck Monday for a few of the girls at work. Weather was perfect and it felt like a retreat in the middle of the work day. That was fun! My supervisor was taking our team out to lunch today, and after such a sweet time on Monday, I invited him and the team to my house for the same idea, only he bring the food. I set the pretty table, provided the drinks, and we ate wonderful burrito's from Chipotle and a Chocolate Turtle Cake from Cafe Latte. Hardly gets better than that! Easy too. We had a nice rain last night, but the sun was out today. Again, perfect weather...early 80's.
Watched the DVD "Turtles Can Fly" last night. A movie about residents of an Iraqi Kurdistan village who await the violent arrival of the invading U.S. Army. A young boy named Satellite helps clear minefields and installs equipment that brings in news from the outside world. Orphans wander aimlessly, and help Satellite clear the minefields for a little money. Of course the children are the victims of tragic happenstance. Saddam is removed from power during this movie, and the children must confront the harsh reality that waits for them. A disturbing movie. It was hard to watch. But I learned some interesting things. I can't stop thinking about it...especially the children.
Tomorrow night I start teaching! I can't wait! I'm going to take another look at my notes now and make sure I'm clear on everything, and that my outline has everything it needs. Stay tuned for a report on this new experience!

| Interesting, totally fiction story about a small town called Angel Falls. Great to read before you fall asleep at night. I like Nora Roberts.
I've spent 3 weeks in Boston with Becky, Patrick, and Marcus between June and July. Pretty special! It's been my favorite thing to do this summer. Living together you really get a good flavor of someone else's life. And it's been most intimate with brand new, fresh from God, baby Marcus. I value(d) this time so much. It was such a gift.
Work has been wonderful. It's slow in June and July and allows me to catch up on all kinds of things I usually don't have time to do. I almost feel like I've not been around for the summer! August is here and the busy time has already started. I've already begun doing the 16 orientations for August. Quite heavy in August and September. Bruce is without his motor cycle too, so there have been no fun rides around the lakes and looking at pretty gardens. I miss that. Our good friends Sandy and George have had their daughter and grand children from Seattle in Minnesota for almost 4 weeks. What a treat that's been for them. However, we miss spending time with them! There has been no practice dancing at Lake Calhoun on Sunday afternoons either.
I have quite a bit of anxiety around teaching my very first class in adult education. Did I tell you I am becoming a college teacher? I was hoping for about 6 students in my first class, but no, there are 20 adult students registered for my course. Worth 3 college credits, this course is called Personal Mission and Leadership. I'm very excited about the content. There is a part of me that can't wait to teach, and another part that is worried about...I don't know what! It is pure anxiety I guess...to be responsible for 20 adult students, to lecture, facilitate discussions, to be creative in the classroom, to grade papers. I don't know. It's scary, scary, scary! I hope I like it! I've been teaching all of my adult life, but not getting paid for it. This shouldn't be too hard, right? We'll see! First class is August 24, 1 evening, three hours a night, for 7 weeks. Oh boy, oh boy!
Well, I have the DVD "Zoro" for this evening. Bruce is painting trim in the upstairs hallway while I study. I think it's time to tear him away, make popcorn, and cozy in for our Netflix movie. Have a great week!

| Finished this book yesterday. It was a wonderful story about loss, pain, love, humor, and ultimate renewal. I really liked it. You should definitely grab this book from the library and read it!
I must admit, being a grandma is pretty amazing! I couldn't figure out how I would love this new baby in our family since he didn't belong to me...that is until I met Marcus Alexander Ray. It was instant love! I think it's like what my mother-in-law use to say to me..."These wonderful babies...they just bring their love with them." True! Although I got an unexpected week with Marcus when he came home from the hospital, Bruce and I are now in Boston loving up this little baby. In a day or two we will start our real vacation in Gloucester, MA and staying in a Ray family house on Cape Anne. I brought my favorite recipes, good books, and looking forward to spending time with baby Marcus rocking and singing to him. Patrick's family will be close too, so I can't wait to visit with them too.It will be a marvelous time, I'm sure.
Here's a few of my favorite pictures of Marcus:
